Willie Mullins' useful hurdler Rattan got off the mark over fences at the third attempt with a clear-cut victory in the Supporting John Jo EBF Beginners Chase at Downpatrick.

The eight-year-old wasn't foot-perfect, making a mistake four out, but Ruby Walsh gave him a patient ride and produced him at the final fence to zip past Ultra Light and Mackeys Forge

Rattan (9-4 favourite) had the race in the bag from that point and strode clear to score by five lengths from the former.

There was a dramatic finish to the Jonjo Bright Trust Beginners Chase, with Davy Condon completing a double as he snatched the prize in the shadow of the post on Black Cache

Eoin Doyle's 12-1 shot was nowhere to be seen entering the closing stages, but just as favourite Sizing Solution got the better of Claragh Native Condon arrived and slipped between the pair to strike by a length and a quarter.

Noel Meade's five-year-old Bose Ikard was sent off the 2-1 favourite for the Tombola Maiden Hurdle after a promising debut over the smaller obstacles at Killarney at the end of last month, and won readily.

Condon moved him into contention two out and after getting the better of All Fired Up jumping the last, he stayed out stoutly to hold Dashing Lady comfortably by seven lengths.

Ken Condon's 20-1 outsider Roja Dove raced in second for most of the way in the Join The Fundraiser Maiden Hurdle and after taking it up going to the final flight, ran on strongly for Eddie O'Connell to score by seven lengths from hot favourite Sizing India

Andrew Ring set off in front on Imperial Joey in the Monster Raffle Handicap Hurdle and Philip Rothwell's 8-1 shot cleared right away in the final quarter-mile to win for the first time in 18 attempts by 16 lengths.

Charles Byrnes' Lash It On (8-1), who leads Solwhit at home, also won for the first time under Rules when striding clear to take the Charity Auction Handicap Chase by eight lengths under Rob Jones.
