< Chinese White oozed class as she opened her season with a dominant display in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran Park.< Karasiyra led them into the straight in the Listed contest, but Pat Smullen was travelling sweetly in third place on Dermot Weld's five-year-old, a winner at Group Two level last season.

When he pulled the trigger the 7-4 favourite - who is in foal to Cape Cross - eased into the lead and soon went clear, beating She's Our Mark by three and a half lengths.

Jim Bolger went close in the Newmarket 1000 Guineas with third-placed Gile Na Greine and he landed a double on home turf completed by Reiteration in the Gowran Park Classic Trial.

All five runners were still in the contest coming down the straight, but Davy Moran's mount (11-4) proved best, joining Buy Back Bob in the lead two furlongs out before forging clear to win by two and a half lengths.

Bolger also struck with Macnas (20-1), who edged in front 100 yards out after a duel with Goldarova to take the Bramblestown Handicap by half a length under Moran.

Ballydoyle runners dominated the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden, with newcomer Jackaroo (7-2) leading home a 1-2-3 for the yard in the seven-furlong contest.< Eskimo led for much of the way, but Jackaroo forged ahead on the rails with two furlongs to run and stayed on well to score by two lengths for Seamus Heffernan.

David Wachman delivered a 1-2 in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap, with Always Be True (12-1) putting in a withering late run from the rear under Michael Cleere to catch Chorus Of Angels for a neck victory.

Wayne Lordan was on the runner-up, but he went one better when Wachman's Barbadine (11-2) put her experience to good use to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden by a comfortable three lengths.

Keith Maher swooped close home on Pat Flynn's Mon Champion (14-1) to grab the spoils by half a length in the Kilkenny Handicap.
