Gigginstown House stud enjoyed a one-two in the Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle at Thurles, but not in the order generally expected.< Milsean was sent off the 4-5 favourite for champion trainer Willie Mullins and everything seemed to be going to plan when he approached the last in front.

Jimmy Mangan's 12-1 shot touched down over three out in a share of the lead, held a clear advantage at the next, and a slick leap at the last helped her on her way to a 21-length defeat of Carrigeen Kigelia < Samson Bill (4-1) was second to Champion Bumper contender Pylonthepressure in a bumper at this venue just before Christmas and showed that kind of form to take the honours in the Killinan Maiden Hurdle.

The Littleton Handicap Hurdle turned into a family affair as Eoin O'Connell steered home his father Eamonn's Captainofthefleet (9-1), while the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race went the way of Elusive Ivy
