Preview punchestown 27th May

Tue 26th May 2009, 12:00

A decent jumps meeting at Punchestown commences at 5.10 and the feature race is the Enhance Marketing Chase.

Willie Mullins is doubly represented in the shape of Jayo and Candy Girl and while the former hasn't really lived up to expectations over fences, he put his best foot forward at this venue last month.

He has more scope for improvement than admirable old-stagers Forget The Past and Central House, so Royal County Star could give him most to think about.

The opening Conyngham Cup is the only other race over the larger obstacles and sees Rockers Field attempt to follow up his Tipperary win, although he was 18 lengths behind the reopposing Garryowen Star the time before that.

The latter went on to just go under to Lasse Viern at Down Royal and has the measure of Ah Ya Boy Ya on that running.

Winning pointer Canadian Blaze made a pleasing start to her career under Rules when second at Sligo and that sets the jumping standard in the Getcover.ie Mares Maiden Hurdle, but Bobs Display was fourth behind Quel Esprit in a Punchestown bumper and commands respect.

Deise Dan was three places back on that occasion and starts off over obstacles in the Panoramic Restaurant Maiden Hurdle (Division 1).

However, Prima Vista was very impressive when seeing off his rivals on his debut in a bumper and gets a handy weight allowance.

The second division doesn't look as strong and is perhaps at the mercy of Total Excitement.< The Wandering Man has come up against the likes of Forpadydeplasterer and Made In Taipan in his time but meets nothing anywhere near that exalted standard in the visitpunchestown.com Maiden Hurdle.

The Tote Sports Lounge Handicap Hurdle could be fought out by Stonehouse and Sunday's Ballinrobe winner Askwith, while the Black Hills Mares INH Flat Race may go to Teffia Rose, a last-start runner-up when favourite on her debut here.
