1st & 3rd for Mangan in Joseph O'Reilly

Oscar Delta (nearside) & On The Fringe do battle at Fairyhouse

Jimmy Mangan saddled the first and third in the Fairyhouse Steel Joseph R O'Reilly Memorial Hunters Chase as Oscar Delta (Damian Murphy) got the better of a driving finish with On The Fringe by half a length. Mangan's other runner Rudi Trucker (Larry Murphy) was a further three and three parts of a length back in the bronze medal position.

Oscar Delta had of course been third at Cheltenham behind Salsify and that fellow was ridden to get involved in this event when he came to grief at the second last.

Jane Mangan, representing her father Jimmy, said: "We were thinking of going to Punchestown with him (Oscar Delta) but because of the pull in the weights (with Salsify) we came here instead.

"He needs better ground really. That was the plan now and that's it for the season. He's been a great servant."

Nina Carberry reported that her mount, No Notions emptied quickly on the approach to the last. (MG & EM)
