Betting figures take a big drop

Once again the betting figures were down at Ballybrit, with the Tote aggregate a massive 30.6% lower on day two compared with the Tuesday last year. The Tote aggregate was €671,212, while 12 months ago the figure was €967,173. The bookmakers turnover also took a fair hit, with today's total of €1,451,297 down 21.5% on last year's figure in the ring of €1,850,346. In comparison the crowd figure held up well, with 17,510 patrons in attendance - just 350 down on the 17,860 last year. Alan Magee
