Galway could still be in Smooth Tom's sights

The Andy Slattery horses continue in good form, and after the success of My Girl Sioux at Bellewstown on Friday there was time for reflection on recent performances of some of the stable's leading lights.

The Killenaule family operation were understandably out in force at one of their local venues in Tipperary on Thursday. They had dual representation in the featured Grade Three Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle.

Sunchart finished third in the hands of Cian Quirke whilst the other Slattery hope Smooth Tom didn't fare as well, coming home in ninth position with Philip Donovan up.

"Nothing showed up this morning (in relation to Smooth Tom's performance), it could possibly have been the ground," reflected Slattery's brother Brian.

"We were expecting a better run out of him yesterday. Galway was the plan before yesterday and we will continue going along there, but that wasn't his run yesterday.

"We were very happy with Sunchart (in third), he ran a great race. We will think about stepping him up in trip now. Cian (Quirke) thought that he would improve for another couple of furlongs."
