Res Ipsa Sometimes you can get carried away with the pedigrees so the horses have this weight on their shoulders, so I just wanted to place this one to tick the maiden box, and to stop thinking of him as a good horse. At the minute, he is just a 'horse' and he did this the way you'd expect him to do it. A mile is a good fit for him and he is very much a work in progress. We'll see how he goes, but it will be baby steps until he proves otherwise. (Third-placed) Camino Lad ran well and it was a great bit of handicapping! It took him a while to get him started and he is a nice horse but is raw as hell. Hopefully he can build on this. |

Ocean's Breath I hoping that the step up in trip would suit him. We had to draw a line through what happened at Naas, he was left on his own. He’s such an honest horse. I said around a bend here we’d try him over seven. I declared him for Sunday, over six (at Navan), just in case I was wrong. Gary said doing that he’d nearly get a mile, the way he ran on. He’s only a baby, and still a colt, so there is plenty of improvement. He has a great temperament and, as I said last night, I love that sire, he has been good to us. |

My Girl Grace She is raw as hell and I told the owner 'she is going to be lovely’,. I doubt she'll ever run over ten (furlongs) again after tonight. She'll be wanting further but it's a nice place to start over ten and we'll see where it gets us. I'd say the rain that's fallen and the ground actually came in our favour. You'd love how she went through from A to B all the way, and from the winning post to the pulling up was the most impressive part of it. |

How'sthebai That was grand. The only question mark was the ground,. He’s a lovely horse; I love him. He's a lovely big honest horse. I've been very lucky with the sire, Bated Breath. As Colin said, the form of his last race was there with winners all around him. So we knew we had him in the right race, but we were worried about the ground. He got through it. |

Daler Of all the horses coming tonight, I would have said he won't handle the soft,. I said to Gary 'have we ever ran him on soft' cause it's always been Dundalk and better ground. It's great. It's like everything in racing, you see yards can't do right for doing wrong and, next thing, I don't know what it is but we'll make the most of it. |

Poetic Sound I’m delighted for Kerri, it’s the first winner in her colours. She rides him out every day,. He’s been a slow burner, he’s had his issues. He’s just a pet. The idea was to run him away, and he’ll go up and down the handicap, and have a bit of fun with him. Sure it would be bad manners not to go over and enjoy the Ebor if he’s alive and well. It’s all about going up and down the handicaps. When the horses are running bad they get dropped, it’s hard work when they are running bad but there is always a turn. He just lost it last year and he looked like he had given up. He’s the slowest horse in the yard by a trillion miles! I never know how he is going to run but Colin said it’s the best he’s ever felt. |

Amiata He’s a fun horse. He loves that up and down in that company. Penalties will stop him a couple of times and when the handicapper is kind to him he’ll do that. He’s for a lovely owner, who isn’t here tonight. He had three entries tonight, one was taken out. The two-year-old (La Tache) ran well, doing it all wrong, and then this lad won for him. He’s a good, fun, horse to have while the two-year-olds are growing up. Philip and Norma Richards are Welsh but they live in the Isle Of Man. |

Guardian Of Realm We knew that was in her locker, just things had to go right. She’s a little bit headstrong and I said to Colin going out ‘if I was riding her I’d settle her from the front, but I’m not saying she’ll let you’. We knew she had that ability so that’s nice. That’s a box ticked, winning her maiden, and I’ll talk to Barry Mahon (Juddmonte racing manager) now and see where we go. |
