After race at Thurles Thu, 16th Oct, 2025 (1st)  Paddy said he took a good blow at the top of the hill but I knew he would, as he is only back in training seven weeks. He got one blow in the Curragh and my own new gallop at home is very good, but he said he'll improve a lot from it. He is a dream horse and he loves it. . I'd like to see Paddy staying on him for the year but T J (McDonald) might have different ideas. We'll see but I think the two of them have a bond and when a horse has a bond with a jockey, I'd love to keep it together. That's up to T J though. He has the Betvictor Champion Chase in Down Royal or the Charlie Hall in Wetherby next but it depends on the ground. Today's race will put him spot on and we're going wherever there is goodish ground. I know he is a 10 year old but I feel he is better and stronger this year and he has put a backside to himself now. he was beaten only 18 lengths in the Grand National and while I wondered whether he stayed the distance, hitting the third-last knowing the stuffing out of him. . Every race is an aim but why not try the Grand National again. He is a great people's horse and I met so many who were here to see Hewick today. John Joseph Hanlon

After race at Thurles Sat, 15th Mar, 2025 (1st)  TJ (McDonald, owner) had no problem with Paddy riding the horse and his own father Terry was only buried three weeks ago. So, with my own father passing away last year and my mother being here today, this is just brilliant. John Joseph Hanlon

After race at Galway Wed, 27th Jul, 2022 (1st)  He is a great horse, is very easy to train and it is great for the team at home as he is our star. Our game has gone very tough with the price of feed and everything, and we are a small yard. It is getting harder every day and to win this is unreal. My mother and father haven't been racing for three years, I am coming here all my life so it is great for everyone. This and the Kerry National, I have both won and we'll head back to Kerry with him now. He came from the sales in Goresbridge for €800. I met this horse coming in the back gate with a lovely walk and Paddy Mullins had said to me years ago 'if a horse can't walk, he can't run'. I went there to buy another horse and live only five minutes from the sales company, so went home for grub but was thinking about him and went back down and bought him. It has been a dream since there as he was unlucky to fall in his point-to-points, and otherwise would have been sold. He gave him a great ride, knew the horse and fair dues to Gordon (Elliott) who allowed me use the chap - he could have told him to ride one of his but said 'your horse has a chance', so allowed me use him. He was the first man to shake my hand coming back in. John Joseph Hanlon

After race at Listowel Wed, 22nd Sep, 2021 (1st)  He’s very consistent and I was disappointed he didn’t get into the Kerry National. I also had him entered in this race so we said we’d come here. John Joseph Hanlon

After race at Clonmel Fri, 11th Jun, 2021 (1st)  He needs that fast ground. There are tracks over-watering but we are in the summer and when you're in the summer, you want fast ground. I think over-watering is very wrong and they should bring it back to 'safe', that's all they should do. John Joseph Hanlon

After race at Kilbeggan Fri, 4th Sep, 2020 (1st)  I'd say stepping up in trip was the key to him today. He loved the ground and Jody said he wanted every yard of three miles,. He travelled, he's a great pilot and he does everything right. I said to him that he had a chance on his work at home and to ride with plenty of confidence which he did. He's had two winners for me in two days with the one owner so it's great for the man that owns him as well. I've had ten winners and 14 seconds since we started again so the horses are flying.
