He fought back bravely after a mistake at the second-last. He jumped the last well and is a very sharp jumper. I said ‘well done’ to Paul and he said ‘I hadn’t much to do with it’. The horse gallops, and once the tape goes down he’s gone. I haven’t any plan made, and I wasn’t sure that he’d handle this ground. The fact that he’s won on it is a big bonus and we may plan to stay training him for the winter. We might find something for him in the new year.

It was a very good performance, his jumping was very slick and he jumped like a handicapper. I think he was a lot more settled and is maturing. . We just have to go up in grade now - he is sharp enough for two miles but I have no problem going further either. We'll look for something around Christmas maybe.

Fairyhouse Sat, 14th Jan, 2023 (1st)
he won despite fighting me for the first half-mile. Usually a horse that does that doesn't finish the race but the fact that he did finish is a testament to his ability. I think he's significantly better than the bare form and when he learns to race, could be a very good horse. He handled that ground fine but it's fresh ground, it's not very deep so he got through it fine. I wouldn't call it proper winter ground, funnily enough. I think he'll handle good ground as well.
