Bremen battled on bravely under Gavin Ryan to get the better of four previous winners in the Sign Up To Our Newsletter Race at Cork.

With each of the quintet having a success to their name, this tight knit affair looked wide open beforehand. A trio of the runners came here off the back of a sole winning maiden run but it was one of the more experienced horses, Bremen, who came out on top.

Trained by Donnacha O'Brien, the Galileo colt had followed up his Killarney maiden win with respectable efforts in both Listed and Group 2 company.

Prominent throughout here, Ryan took over from leader Euphoric over a furlong out and held enough in reserve to see off the late run of favourite Stromberg to prevail by two lengths.

Winning trainer Donnacha O'Brien said: "He was working very well and I was fancying him until the rain came, which wouldn't suit him, but I don't think the ground is as bad (officially 'soft') as what they are saying.

"His last two races were messy and he didn't get a clear run around but has always worked like a nice horse. He is not big at all but if they are fast enough, it doesn't matter what size they are.

"He did it very nicely today, is a decent horse and we will maybe run in Chester now - that'll tell us where we stand."
