Sea The Boss threw her hat into the ring as a possible candidate for the Irish Oaks when making a successful reappearance in the Al Shira’aa Racing Irish EBF Jannah Rose Stakes at Naas.

The Jessica Harrington-trained filly was held up in rear in this five-runner 1m2f Group 3 event and was pushed along before switched out by Shane Foley under two furlongs out.

The well backed 7/2 chance still had her four rivals ahead at the furlong pole but really got motoring inside the final 150 yards to beat Madam Celeste by a neck. Je Zous was prominent throughout but couldn’t find any extra in the closing stages a further length and three-quarters back in third.

Harrington said, “She was good last year and I just ran her back too quick after the Champions Weekend. She doesn’t go on soft ground.

“It was a big ask for her with three of them having already had a run this year. I thought fitness might catch her out but she was good and stayed well.

“She has a turn of foot and showed us that last year when she won her maiden. It’s only her fourth run and she will come forward a good bit from this.

“She might end up in the Irish Oaks and will be moving up to a mile and a half.”
