The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Abushamah, trained by Kevin Prendergast, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be . The Stewards requested a report from G.M.Lyons, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Burn The Boats, winner, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge benefitted from a step back up in trip to a mile today in a weak race. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted it's content.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (95 = 9st 12lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not; be less than 9st 12lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won. Any horse rated above 95 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 95 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 95 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
