He's a very fit horse and I thought he'd be hard to beat. He loves that ground,. He's been very consistent and has run three seconds in his last three runs over hurdles. The Stewards enquired into the fact that Lily White Socks, trained by P. D. Deegan arrived at the start wearing a hood which it had not been declared to carry. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who accepted responsibility for the oversight and apologised for the inconvenience. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards ordered the removal of the hood and allowed the horse to run. They further cautioned P.D. Deegan of his future responsibilities in this regard.

An extended handicap for four yrs old and upwards (95 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 95 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 95 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 95 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
