Ghostwriter in line to make racecourse return at Royal Ascot Ghostwriter is set to head straight to Royal Ascot where he will finally make his first start for Kevin Philippart de Foy in either the Hardwicke or Wolferton Stakes. The five-year-old commanded £2,000,000 from Kia Joorabchian’s Amo Racing before finishing third for Clive Cox behind Charlie Appleby’s Rebel’s Romance at the Royal meeting in the Hardwicke Stakes last summer. He was due to run in the Princess of Wales’s Stakes after that, but had a nasty experience when rearing over as he was being saddled and was subsequently withdrawn. He is now with Amo Racing’s principal trainer Philippart de Foy at Freemason Lodge in Newmarket, but as of yet has not made it to the racecourse. However, the Newmarket-based Belgian is relishing finally getting a horse that could be a flagship performer for his operation back on the track and is busy readying the son of Invincible Spirit for an outing at the summer’s marquee meeting. “He’s either going to run in the Hardwicke or the Wolferton and he will probably go straight there,” explained Philippart de Foy. “We’ll decide probably the week before which one we’ll go for and it will be great to get him back on a racetrack, he is in great shape. “He’ll probably just have a racecourse gallop and head straight to Ascot.” Dual Targets for Improving Cathedral Another possible for Philippart de Foy’s Royal Ascot team is Cathedral, with the handler feeling she has improved again following her second in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket. The four-year-old daughter of Two Darn Hot now has the option of dropping to a mile or adding a furlong in distance for the Curragh’s Paddy Power Pretty Polly Stakes late next month, before tackling Deauville’s Prix Jean Romanet later in the season. “They went very fast in the Dahlia and she was up there to be shot at. She deserved to win her Group race and I was a bit gutted it didn’t happen,” added Philippart de Foy. “The race set up for finishers, but she has improved massively for that run and has come out of it very well. “She could go now to Royal Ascot and the main target will be the Prix Romanet in August. It’s just a question now if we drop back to a mile for the Duke of Cambridge at Ascot or we go to the Pretty Polly in Ireland. “We’ll probably see what others are doing before making a final call.”
