'Plenty of movement'
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “It’s Day One of Royal Ascot and we’re thrilled to see the action get going. There’s been plenty of movement in our markets already, with a trio of Ryan Moore mounts receiving particular attention. One of which is Gstaad in the Coventry (3.05pm) who's been backed from 9/2 into 7/2 market leader.
“Punters seem confident that George Boughey's recent Group 1-winning mare Believing can replicate that success in the King Charles III Stakes (3.40pm) with Moore in the saddle for the first time, slimming in price to 4/1 from 9/2. Fast forward to the 5.35pm and it’s Moore’s mount Sons And Lovers in the Wolferton Stakes who’s seen some support from 6/1 into 9/2.
“Elsewhere, Carl Spackler has seen some money at 14/1 who we’ve cut into 10s in the opening Queen Anne Stakes (2.30pm). Willie Mullins’ 100/1 Triumph star at the Cheltenham Festival, Poniros has been our biggest mover from 11/2 to 9/4 favourite for a Flat rematch against East India Dock in the Ascot Stakes (5.00pm).”
