Royal Ascot 2025: Cheltenham Accommodation prices Are 249 percent More Expensive Than Royal Ascot Options

Royal Ascot is one of Britain’s most iconic and historic racing events. Held every June, the five-day meeting draws in around 300,000 visitors over five days, with attendees dressed to impress by embracing the grandeur and tradition of the occasion.

Ahead of Royal Ascot 2025, we analysed over 3,000 accommodation listings on Booking.com and Airbnb to assess how prices shift during the meeting compared to the weeks prior and afterwards. More importantly, we set out to discover where and how people can save money while still soaking in the magic of the event.

According to the results of the analysis, a 5-night Royal Ascot stay for racegoers travelling from London on the 17th of June until the 21st 2025, including accommodation, food costs, travel, beer and tickets for two people at the event, amounts to €2,767.80. From Manchester, the total cost for the same rises to €3,371.80 with Birmingham costing €2,847.80 and Dublin reaching €2,898.80.

Food across the five days which covers roughly 3 meals per day for 2 people works out to be €711.30 with beer cost working out at €65.20, tickets €942.00 and travel costs reaching €148.00.

Interestingly, if people were to book their accommodation via booking.com, it would cost them €900.54, whereas AirBnB works out to be €1,135.00 which is €234.46 costlier than booking.com.

Cheltenham 2025 Accommodation Costs Far Exceed Royal Ascot

However, things get even more interesting when comparing Royal Ascot to another leading horse racing event in the four-day Cheltenham Festival. An Airbnb stay for Cheltenham averages a hefty €2,069.11, while Booking.com listings skyrocket to €3,961.33. By comparison, the accommodation costs for Royal Ascot are significantly lower — with Booking.com at €900.54 and Airbnb at €1,135.00. To put everything into perspective, a hotel stay for Cheltenham via Booking.com works out to be costlier than an entire Royal Ascot experience, including hotel, train travel, food, drinks, and tickets for two people. Furthermore, whether you book a stay with Airbnb or booking.com, Cheltenham remains the more expensive accommodation option.

Methodology

In total, 3037 AirBnB & Booking.com accommodation listings in Cheltenham and Royal Ascot were collected for the purpose of the 2025 analysis.

The dates were pre-set to 10th of March to 15th of March 2025, and the 17th of June to the 21st June 2025 for Cheltenham and the Royal Ascot respectively.
