Petit Tonnerre gave the English raiders another winner this week when coming with a strong surge on the run-in to score for the training partnership of Jonjo and AJ O’Neill. Mirazur West took them along at a brisk pace in the two-mile Frontline Security Handicap Chase but was headed by Dont Go Yet before the final fence.

Richie McLernon gave Petit Tonnerre a strong drive in the closing stages to collar that rival in the closing stages for a two-and-a-quarter length success.

The JP McManus-owned winner had been well-beaten at Aintree on his last outing and went to post a 16/1 shot this afternoon.

AJ O’Neill said:- “We were hitting the crossbar earlier in the week but Richie gave that lad a really lovely ride, very patient, and it was lovely to see it coming off for all the team.

“We loved the way he won in Doncaster earlier in the season and he was then unlucky to fall, and it took a while to find his stride again.

“JP is a massive supporter of the game and a massive supporter of ours so it’s amazing to have a winner on a day like today.”

It was the fourth win this week for English-based trainers.
