The judge’s placings were confirmed after a steward’s enquiry and it was Shanroe Al C that came out on top in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Sligo.

Favourite Walking On Glass tried to burrow his way up the inner on the run-in, but was never likely to get through, and he eventually finished in third place. In Your Shadow tried his case on the run-in but from the front Shanroe Al C refused to yield, and eventually gained the day by half a length.

It was the same distance then to Walking On Glass in third.

Karl Thornton has care of Shanroe Al C for the GAP Partnership, and he was ridden by Danny Hand.

"He went to Killarney and when he came home he was sick," said Thornton.

"We gave him three or four weeks off. I gave him a small piece of work last week. I'd say he'll come on plenty for this run.

"He's not a bad horse and nice ground suits him. They're only kicking the top off it here.

"He'll probably go back over fences now."

The Stewards enquired into possible interference between the final hurdle and the winning post involving Shanroe Al C, ridden by D.J. Hand, placed first and Walking On Glass, ridden by A.P. Kelly, placed third, where it appeared that Walking On Glass may have been tight for room when delivering a challenge.

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.
