Battling Boru another for in-form Tony

Fri 23rd Jul 2010, 21:53

Battling Boru from the first crop of Brian Boru, justified favouritism by four lengths in the concluding Ballindinas Flat Race under Pa Murphy for the red-hot stable of Tony Mullins at Wexford.

On outing number three for his Athlone owners, the Shoot A Hoop Syndicate, Limerick third (form franked by Jewel In The Sun), Battling Boru led a furlong out and he stayed on well to see off the well-backed pair Quenzo Pierji (14s into 7s) and Border Station (66s in the morning into 10/1) by four lengths and three parts of a length.

Mullins said: "He is a good horse but he is very excitable and still has a lot of improving to do. He was quite a late foal if I remember correctly and he is a horse with a future I think. He is from the family of Galmoy by a Sadler's Wells horse so he should stay well. He'll have a break now."

Asked about the reasons behind his own sparkling run Mullins remarked: "I don't know, if I knew I'd bottle it. I just hope it continues on into next week."
