Bow Creek struck a blow for England at Leopardstown today when winning the Group 2 Clipper Boomerang Mile for trainer Mark Johnson and jockey Joe Fanning, beating Jersey Stakes winner and even money favourite Mustajeeb

Fanning, in his 19th year working with Johnson, produced the son of Shamardal to lead a furlong out, before staying on well for a half length win.

Following the win, Johnson stated “it's great to see him follow up his win last time and he'd have been very unlucky to have got beaten in Goodwood (when he hung left) and it's great to see what he can do today when he keeps straight.

“It's a great prize and great to win another Group 2 but I'd love to see him step up to a Group 1 now.

“After his win at Goodwood, the idea was to step up to Group 1 but I was in Keeneland (Sales) when the decisions were being made so credit to John Ferguson (racing manager to owner Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum) for deciding to come here.”
