Oran McGill gave Building Bridges a well-judged front-running ride to land The Lighthouse At Clifford Electrical Handicap Hurdle.

The New Approach gelding, bred by the Niarchos family and a winner on the level for Jessica Harrington at three, got an easy time of things at the head of affairs and dictated a steady pace. The eight runners were still closely bunched coming to the last and, despite drifting left on the run-in, the winner found plenty to see off Frazel Express and Guido Reni by three parts of a length and the same.

The winner, on the mark at Downpatrick in May, is trained for the Taphouse Syndicate by the winning rider’s father Gary who was on lead-up duty.

Oran McGill remarked: “He made the running at Downpatrick so that was the plan again. He enjoys it out in front. I stretched them a bit and then let him get a breather and he’s done it well.

“I got it handy enough early on. He tends to go a bit left under pressure but he finds plenty.

“He’s been in good form all season. We might give him another run or put him away for a break. We’ll see how he is in a couple of days."
