Zig Zag Ziggy put retirement on hold with a first win in two years today, landing Bellewstown's Western Motors CUPRA Handicap for trainer Ado McGuinness, owner Mark Devenny and jockey Adam Caffrey.

The eight year old, who debuted for McGuinness in 2018, has moved yard nine times in a 55-race career and while beaten huge margins recently, bounced back today when rewarding late support (22/1 to 14s), beating dead-heating runner-ups Eruption and Scarlet Dancer by a head.

McGuinness reported "he (Caffrey) was very good on him and, to be honest, we were going to retire him nearly after today - his form had just completely and utterly gone.

"I just felt with the little bit of rain it just might suit him. I was going to run him in the claimer and said 'no, I'm going to run him in the sprint' and it worked out.

"I knew we had form in the sprint, so it was great."
