Childrens' Day at Punchestown Saturday 24th April

Punchestown are making huge efforts to encourage younger racegoers to come and experience a fun day at the races.

Entrance for children under 14 is free on Saturday 24th and Punchestown have put together an entertainment package that will entice even the most demanding of youngsters.

Dobbins Restaurant will have special kids menus which be served at reasonable prices:-

Kids Pasta Bolognaise €4.00, Kids Hot Dog €4.00, Kids Burger €4.50, Breast of Chicken Curry, Pilaf Rice €7.50, Homemade Soup and Bread Roll €4.00, Selection of Gourmet Sandwiches €4.00, Muffins €2.75, etc.

Funderland is coming to Punchestown. The largest travelling theme park brings all its thrills and spills with Rollercoaster, Waltzer and Tiny Tots Tea Cups.

A "Racing Club For Kids" hosted by Marie-Lou Donnelly will show children from the ages of 6 upwards racing equipment used by the horses, jockeys, trainers and grooms – from saddles to silks, girths to goggles, horse shoes to helmets and everything in between!

Dick O'Sullivan, Manager of Punchestown Racecourse said:- “If it bounces, pops, swizzels, giddy ups, slips, slides and is great fun for junior race goers Punchestown & the ‘Go Racing Kids Club' will have it on Saturday 24th at the Punchestown Family Fun Day. All children Under 14 are free and we're delighted to be working with the team in Horse Racing Ireland on our Family day and we all hope that lots of kids will turn out to enjoy the huge array of fun activities on the final day of this years National Hunt season – we'll send it off with a bang!”

11.30am Gates open

11.45am “Go Racing Kids Club” officially opens with an abundance of free activities, including inflatable Horse Derby, the Giddy Up Club, Face painters and lots more...

1.30pm Fancy Dress Parade and judging sponsored by Horse Racing Ireland. The Fancy Dress Parade will be led by “The Tallaght Festival Band” from the parade ring and will proceed to the “Go Racing Kids Club” area

2.00pm Main Stage Crystal Swing

2.30pm 1st race of the day

2.50pm Schools Art Competition Winner's details announced and presentation

4.00pm Presentation and celebration of the “National Hunt Champions”

4.25pm Feature race of the day “The Airshow 100 Champion Four Year Old Hurdle”
