Clody Valley tasted success for the first time on his 19th career start in the Lismore Handicap Chase at Tramore.

Richie Deegan sent him after Time To Bite and Itsalonglongroad before two out and he readily improved to lead at that fence.

He soon scooted clear and popped the last from Itsalonglongroad who departed to leave Inagh's Gift who was tussling for second at the time, in second from Golden Ferret

The winner was returned at 8/1 from the 14/1 (backed in from 22s) runner-up and the 17/2 third home.

Trainer Liz Doyle said: “He’s had lots of wind ops. He’s looked a bit of a pig but it’s just his wind catching him.

“I’m delighted for his owner/breeder Brendan Murphy from Bunclody. It’s a long old road when you are going through that many issues and problems with horses.

“He’s always had ability and it’s great to get his head in front after all that we have been through with him.”
