Bottom-weight Deputy's Pass fended off Twiss's Hill by a head at the end of the three mile one handicap chase in Gowran Park.

Alan Fleming 's eight-year-old gelding moved into contention before the third last and hit the front upon landing after that obstacle.

Twiss's Hill refused to go away though and rallied to good effect on the run-in but was a head in arrears at the winning post.

The winner was returned at 5/1 with the runner-up an 8/1 shot. Static Jack the 3/1 favourite, led but weakened out of contention before the straight and finished fifth.

Jockey Kevin Brouder said: “He’s a tough horse and put his head down. He missed one at the second last but got away with it.”
