Doctor Gives McNamara a Tonic

Sun 1st Feb 2009, 15:39

Andrew McNamara, agonisingly denied a winner at his local track last Wednesday when Zanwood stopped to nothing on the run-in, got a measure of compensation when The Dashing Doctor kept going gamely to land the Sporting Limerick Handicap Hurdle under Eoin McCarthy.

In front after three out, the 6/1 shot fought off The Thirsty Bricky and Hilts (bidding to give Conor O'Dwyer and Niki O'Shea a treble) in the straight to prevail by two and a half lengths.

McNamara said of the Downpatrick hurdle and Clonmel chase winner: "He'll mix it between hurdles and fences. Eoin gave him a great ride." (EM)
