Doyle and Hourigan win opener

Sat 20th Sep 2008, 14:22

Michael Hourigan made a welcome return to winners enclosure after winning The Charlie Chute Memorial Maiden Hurdle with Born High ridden by Tom Doyle and owned by The Born High Syndicate.

The Hourigan trained horse survived a Stewards Enquiry after Doyle slightly hampered the runner up Diaego with Barry Geraghty in the saddle close home.

Michael Hourigan said afterwards, "This horse would prefer the better ground, he's a lot of experience and deserved to win a race of this type. He is well bred and still retains a decent flat handicap mark. We will probably look for a handicap hurdle next but we may run him on the all-weather at some stage."
