Easy Listowel Festival winner Drombeg Duke bounced back from a disappointing run at Tipperary to land division one of the BetVictor Casino Handicap.

Backed from 5/1 into 7/2 before the off, Gavin Ryan’s mount raced in mid-division before starting to make headway in the final quarter mile.

Several held chances at the furlong pole but it was Drombeg Duke who found a bit more to touch off the gallant front-runner Capla Knight (50/1) by a neck with Hidden Spark (16/1) the same margin further back in third.

Winning trainer Eoin McCarthy said: “He's a lovely tough honest horse and he did it well. Hopefully the handicapper won't crucify us again.

“I'd say we'll keep him going as he seems to like it up here. While he's fit and well we'll keep him tipping along.

“I'm delighted for the owners who made a long trip up, so it's great.”
