Druid’s Altar has proved a good servant to connections and recorded a fourth career win in the Glin Beginners Chase at Limerick.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained gelding, who previously won a Flat maiden at Listowel and scored twice over hurdles last winter, had made a promising start over fences at Clonmel last month.

JJ Slevin’s mount got the better of good battle in the straight with fellow joint favourite Turnpike Trip asserting on the run-in to score by two and a half lengths at odds of 5/2.

The pair stretched 16 lengths clear of Alice Avril in third.

Slevin said, “He’s a hardy four-year-old, jumps a fence well and is getting the allowance.

“It’s great to get a win over fences on him and maybe there could be something for him at Galway.”
