Drumbaloo takes last at Navan

Sun 13th Dec 2009, 15:43

The concluding race on today’s card, the Ladbrokes Cheltenham Bumper Series ‘Future Champions’ (Pro/Am) Grade 2 Flat Race caused somewhat of a surprise when 5/2 shot Drumabaloo beat the 1/3 favourite Tornedo Shay

Robbie McNamara took up the lead travelling well over a furlong and half out and kept on well to hold off the late challenge of the favourite by a short head.

Winning trainer James Lambe said afterwards: “I thought maybe he might have been caught for a bit of toe but Robbie said he was idling in front.”

“He wasn’t drilled for today and we’ll give him a break now. He’s a horse with a big future.”

“We’ll sit down with the owners now and discuss his plans for the future.”
