Dermot Weld introduced a talented sort in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden where Etneya scored in impressive fashion.

The Aga Khan’s home-bred daughter of Siyouni was sent off the 16/5 second favourite against 17 rivals, and travelled well before quickened clear over a furlong out in this mile event.

She kept on well under Oisin Orr to beat Never Forgotten by three and a quarter lengths, with Simply A Breeze keeping on well in the closing stages a further length and a quarter away in third.

Weld said, “That was a pleasing performance for a filly having her first run. She had been working nicely and did it well.

“She’s from a good family and her half-sister (Eziyra) was a very good filly for us.

“Hopefully she is Stakes class and she will go next for a black type race. She’s been a late maturing filly.

“She has lots of pace but there is plenty of stamina in the family. If she gets a mile and a half she could be a very talented filly.

“We’ll look at a mile to a mile and a quarter and we’ll see how she gets on.”
