Fahy scores maiden win on Diamond's Return

Mon 13th Jul 2009, 21:01

Eighteen year old amateur rider Conor Fahy partnered his first winner at Killarney, winning the concluding Aura Killarney Sports & Leisure Bumper on his father Pat Fahy's Diamond's Return

Diamond's Return, a half brother to the 2000 Galway Hurdle, raced in mid-division on the inner before moving through to lead inside the final furlong, scoring a three parts of a length win over 4/5f On Borrowed Wings

Afterwards Fahy Snr reported "I was sent this horse by his owner (Seamus O'Farrell) and was told he was nicely bred. He has a nice few gears and there is a good possibility he'll run in a winners' race at Galway."

He added "Conor has ridden two point to point winners and although he finds it hard to do low weights, hopefully he'll continue do well in bumpers and in point to points."
