Denis Hogan's Farnese served up a 33/1 surprise in the first division of the myhomecare.ie Handicap at Dundalk.

Joe Doyle drove the handicap debutant home by a head from 4-1 favourite Munaajaat in this mile contest.

The winner held a narrow lead from the favourite inside the final furlong and battled to the line to fend him off. Cautious Approach completed the placings in third, a length and a half away, at 9/2.

Joe Doyle said: "He has been showing us plenty at home. He had been running in tricky maidens and it was his first time in a handicap.

"He got a nice mark and really enjoyed the surface. Looking forward to him for the rest of the winter as he has done it nicely.

"Plum draw (in 3), keep it simple and follow Donnacha (O'Brien on Munaajaat) and just try and beat him and it has worked.

"We think there is a bit more in the tank."
