Forester stepped up on his promising debut to take Leopardstown’s opening two-year-old six furlong maiden for Aidan and Joseph O’Brien.

The son of Danehill Dancer - who is a half brother to sprinter Zinziberine – made all and kicked clear a furlong and a half out to score by a length and three parts from Desert Of Dreams (8/1) to justify odds on quotes of 4/6.

The favourite had been backed in from 7/4 in the morning and from an opening show of 4/5 on course.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien said: “He improved nicely from the Curragh.”

He had finished third at the Curragh to Dawn Approach on 25th March over five furlongs, beaten just over a length and three parts.

A place and a head in front of him that day was Canary Row who was due to contest this race at Leopardstown but was a non-runner due to a pulled muscle.

That left seven to go to post. Move To Strike (7/2) took third place for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning.
