Tony Martin described Quickpick Vic as "a very nice horse" in a recent stable tour and he was the one for money in the concluding Bobbyjo Bistro INH Flat Race at Fairyhouse. However he bumped into something that could be well out of the ordinary in the shape of the easy-to-back joint favourite Owen Mc

Noel Meade trains Owen Mc and he said: "We thought he was useful. He did everything very nicely at home but he'd never really been asked to do anything. That was my only worry.

"He did three pieces of work and he got better and better so it wasn't a surprise. The owner, Christy McDonnell, spends a lot of his time in Canada. He brought the mare (Owen Mc's dam, They Call Me Molly) back from Canada and I think she bred one winner before that Jonjo (O'Neill) had.

"We'll probably keep him to bumpers. It looks the right thing to do and he'll certainly run in one more anyway. He didn't have a hard race, with his pace he was able to sit, pick them up and do it easily."

Meade had just watched the Nina Carberry-ridden Owen Mc slam the keen-going Quickpick Vic by an unflattering eleven lengths.

The Tu Va handler also revealed that Realt Dubh, fourth in the James Nicholson last Saturday, will probably run again in the Fortria Chase at Navan this coming Sunday. (GC & EM)
