Any doubts over flat-bred Rally #8217;s ability to see out two and a half miles in the bumper at Roscommon were firmly dispelled as the 6/4 favourite powerfully saw off his rivals.

The four-year-old made all and asserted a furlong out to come in well clear. It was 13 lengths back to Tarogato (6/1) in second and another 10 lengths to Financially Loose in third at 20/1.

Charlie Swan said: “He’s a lazy type of a horse but he stays and gallops well. He has schooled. He might be sold, we’ll see what happens.”

Rally had been second to Storm Away in a Tipperary bumper over two miles on June 6.

This race concluded a great night for favourite backers as either the jolly or joint best won six of the eight races.
