A little bit of an eye-catcher last time at Gowran, it wasn't that surprising to see Green Energy come in for support in the offices this morning (16s into a starting price of 8s) and he got the job done for the brothers Smith, trainer Matthew and rider Kevin in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Down Royal.

The Rainbow Quest gelding moved well through this two and a half miler and eventually fended off Tillargon by a length and three parts.

This was Kevin's third victory in the plate (rode Rawnaq a winner twice) and he said: "He travelled really well and he enjoyed it. He handled the ground, it wasn't an issue. I knew I had it turning in. I'll have to speak to the boss [trainer] regarding future plans!" (MG & EM)
