After getting a lovely patient steer from the back, Lady Princess was delivered to perfection down the inner in the final quarter mile by Joey Sheridan, to win the Listed Ballyhane Blenheim Stakes at Fairyhouse.

Owned and bred by John Quigley, the Exceed And Excel filly is trained by Denis Hogan, and she took her score to two wins from four outings here.

At the line Lady Princess had a length and a quarter to spare over New Treasure Bell I Am was four and a half lengths back in third.

“The race cut up, it wasn't a big field, so we said we'd take our chance and see if we could nick a bit of black-type,” said Sheridan.

“It's worked out and she's a lovely filly. She's always showed a lot at home.

“To be honest the last day was my fault as I was too handy on her over five on a stiff track at Navan.

“Today we said we'd drop her in and she'd probably come home well, that's what she did. I knew a furlong-and-a-half out I had them all well covered.

“The form was there with Grammata, who came out and won her maiden after. She's a nice filly and hopefully she can keep progressing.

“That's my third listed race of the year. Things are flying and hopefully it keeps up.”

S. Foley, rider of Dickiedooda trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount struggled on todays slow ground.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Dense Star trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount struggled on todays slow ground.

The Stewards reviewed an incident in the early stages of this race where it appeared that Queens Carriage ridden by M. C. Hussey clipped a heel. Having viewed the recording and considered the matter the stewards decided that no further action was warranted.
