Queen Jesse Jay (28s into 20s) finished with a flourish from before the final flight to win the Solerina January 30th Mares Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Phillip Enright did the steering for his boss Robert Tyner and the successful daughter of Great Pretender eventually got the better of another outsider, 33/1 shot Daphne Moon by a length and a quarter.

They left An Taibhse nine lengths back in third.

This was a pleasing performance from Queen Jesse Jay (saddle slipped right back from before halfway - breastplate crucial) on what was only her second start.

For the second race in succession the winning owner, Brendan Keogh, is probably more familiar to followers of greyhound sport.

His KSS Syndicate is a major player cross-channel. Meanwhile Percy Warner rsquo;s owner Basil Holian has long since competed at the top echelons of the coursing game.

Tyner’s wife Mary said: “She was loving the soft ground and went through it well.

“She warmed up to it and won nicely. She was very green the first day.”
