Casual punters who played up their winning from previous race winner Penny Jar would have been smiling after Inforapenny justified favouritism in Division ll of the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown.

Unlike the previous winner, Inforapenny was confidently expected to lands the odds, having been well backed prior to the race.

A staying on third at Roscommon last time, stepping up in trip looked sure to suit the Mark Fahey trained gelding here.

He got a dream run up the inside under Mark McDonagh and despite a dour battle with Well Joey on the run-in, the Fahey trained runner pulled out that bit more when it mattered most.

Mark Fahey said: "He did (enjoy the trip), anywhere between two and two and a half miles (suits). He did good work the last day in Roscommon.

"I'm delighted for Pat McCarthy as he is brilliant for the game. He couldn't make it today, he's gone to the hurling. He is sorry he is not going to be here.

"He's consistent, the horse deserves that. He's always bang there or thereabouts, so it is about time he won his race.

"Ground came right and everything came right - there was a couple of fancied ones there that came out too and the race cut up and it worked out well for him.

"We'll keep going like that over the summer. We'll see how he comes out of it and the next three weeks we'll see how we get on."
