Colenso followed up on his Wexford success last month with another victory at Tramore for trainer Pat Flavin.

He raced off a 7lb higher mark and was up in class for this 80-102 handicap hurdle but showed a ready attitude to get the job done.

The four-year-old gelding came with a lovely run on the inner to grab the lead at the second last.

A good jump there saw him land full of running on the approach to the final flight. He took a couple of lengths out of the pursuing Jessamine as he jumped it, but met it on the wrong stride.

It didn't effect his momentum, though, as he stayed on well on the run-in to oblige by four and a quarter lengths at 5/1. Elusive Don (20/1) got up for second by half a length from 16/1 shot Jessamine. Bellgrove the well backed 7/2 favourite finished a neck out of the places in fourth.

The trainer's son, John Flavin, said: "We got him at the sales in Newmarket last year. I knew the minute that I rode him that he wasn't too bad, so we gave him plenty of time.

"He won alright in Wexford the last day and I was just hoping that he would step up today.

"I was a bit worried coming down the hill. Danny (Mullins) said he was a bit flat out coming down the hill but once he hit the rising ground he stayed on well. He is still learning the way.

"We are after getting two wins out of him now and if we could get another it would be great."
