The Denis Hogan trained Inis Meain ran out a very easy winner of the Michael Kenny Memorial Apprentice Handicap under Ronan Whelan.

Sent off the 7/2 second favourite, the 5yo son of Bernstein made all and kicked clear two and a half furlongs from home.

He was eased down from a furlong out when well clear and recorded a facile four and three parts of a length success at the line.

The 3/1 favourite Little Green finished best of the rest in second for Eric and Emmet McNamara while the Pat Flynn trained Catch Light was a further length and a quarter back in third under Colin Keane at 4/1. Gothen Niece was withdrawn at the start after she unshipped her rider Sam James and ran loose while the Andrew McNamara trained Marcus Attilus pulled up injured after about three furlongs.

The winner started off his career with Jim Bolger and on his debut he finished a well beaten seventh behind subsequent Listed winner Midnight Soprano in a maiden at Wexford in July of 2010.

He then moved to Denis Hogan's yard and on his sixth start for Hogan he won his maiden hurdle at Thurles in in February.

He since ran twice over hurdles disappointing at Aintree last time out but back on the level today he made a mockery of his mark of 47 as he won pulling up.

Winning trainer Denis Hogan said afterwards: "He was probably entitled to win off that mark. We will see how he is but he is entered again on Thursday (in Leopardstown) and he will probably run."
