Lookoutnow proved much too strong for his rivals as he ran out a cosy winner of the KCLR 96FM Carey's Cottage Cup at Gowran Park.

Mikey Butler always had his mount to the fore in the two-and-a-half mile handicap chase and he asserted from his rivals turning for home.

The result never looked in doubt from there and the Eoin Doyle-trained gelding stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a comprehensive 16-length victory over Prince of Leisure.

The 7/1 winner (from 6/1) was returning to chasing having landed a handicap hurdle at Tramore on his last outing.

“He loves that ground and it's great to get a winner on a good local day,” said the Mooncoin handler afterwards. Steady Ed was the well-backed 4/1 favourite (from 6/1) but was pulled up.
