Luminesce (6/4 favourite) looked very smart on debut when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Fairyhouse.

The gambled-on Mahaaseel (7/1 into 11/4 second favourite) really put it to her rivals from the front.

However as only one with plenty of talent can do, at the first time of asking, Luminesce quickened past inside the final furlong to prevail by a length and a half.

Owned by Sean Jones, David Spratt and Lynne Lyons, wife of winning trainer Ger, the daughter of Muhaarar was continuing an excellent run for the Glenburnie handler and his stable jockey Colin Keane.

“Very happy with that. She's a lovely filly, and has shown us plenty at home, but she's a seven furlong/miler,” said Lyons’ brother Shane.

“Colin said there that she's a miler. She was very green but she was only down the road and races aren't filling.

“She has a little bit of class and we had to run her here to educate her, she would have been working yesterday.

“She's done what we thought she could do. There will be no rush with her and we'll step her up to seven at a minimum.”

W.M. Lordan, rider of Mass Gathering trained by J.A.Stack, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran very green and momentarily lost her action in the straight.

W.J. Lee, rider of Takeko trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with trouble in the straight and he had to sit before moving out to challenge.
