Lynch to miss Sizing ride

Andrew Lynch will miss the ride on Sizing Europe at Punchestown after breaking his wrist.

The jockey also fractured his right humerus in a heavy fall from Fearless Falcon at the second-last in the Weatherbys Ireland GSB Hurdle.

He was taken to Connolly Hospital for X-rays which showed he required surgery and he faces a spell of up to two months on the sidelines.

Dr Adrian McGoldrick, chief medical officer of the Irish Turf Club, said: "Andrew has broken his left wrist and right upper humerus.

"He'll be operated on this morning and he's definitely out of Punchestown.

"It will be six to eight weeks he'll be out for. It was a horrible fall.

"Luckily after Punchestown things quieten down, but that will be no comfort to him."

Sizing Europe's trainer Henry de Bromhead was full of sympathy for his jockey but will not rush into a decision about who will partner his stable star.

"It's very disappointing for him, things had been going so well this season too," said De Bromhead.

"There's never a good time for something like this to happen and he's gutted.

"It's too early just yet to say who'll replace him on Sizing Europe. I'll have a sit down with Alan and Ann (Potts, owners) and we'll discuss all the options.

"It's a real shame because Andrew knows him inside out now and he got such a great tune out of him at Cheltenham.

"We'll make a decision in the next few days and let everybody know."
