The second division of the maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan also went to a front-runner as Sizing Mauritius prevailed for Jessica Harrington.

Robbie Power bounced out in front on the Martaline gelding, in the Potts colours, and he found plenty to fight off the attentions of Showbusiness

The 6/4 favourite asserted going to the final flight and stayed on strongly on the run-in to post a three-and-three-quarter length victory over his market rival (2/1).

Just two horses counted as there was a 17-length gap back to Rigmarole

“I'm delighted with him, he's a fine big horse,” said Power.

“It didn't look the best race in the world but we thought coming here we had to take our chance, we didn't know if he'd handle the track.

“To be fair to him he's a well balanced horse and he handled it really well. There is a Potts dispersal sale at the end of next month and he's probably going to go to that.

“He'll make a lovely chaser for someone.”
