Paul Carberry switched to Road To Riches when Ned Buntline was ruled out of Fairyhouse’s novice chase and the move paid off for him as he made all on Noel Meade’s horse.

Carberry, known for delivering horses to swoop late, set out to make all on the seven-year-old and had too much for the 11/8 favourite Mallowney who travelled well, but didn’t have the answers on the run-in as he was outgunned by three and three quarter lengths.

“He’s a funny horse, but when he gets his own way he can be good. He’s by Gamut and it’s possible that he wants that ground. We tried to keep him fresh at home and with it getting near the end of the season it is possible he could go to Punchestown,” Noel Meade said of his gelding who went off at 2/1.

Ned Buntline (also trained by Meade) was a non runner due to being stiff. Carberry replaced Barry Geraghty on Road To Riches. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
