Inis Meain proved too hot to handle for his rivals in the Irish Field Alleged Stakes as he made all for victory in the Listed event.

Denis Hogan's charge had his rivals hard at work from the two furlong pole and stuck on well in the closing stages when asked for an effort by Danny Mullins.

Tarana tried to give chase, going down by two-and-a-half lengths while 15/8 favourite Parish Hall (backed from from 9/4) was the same margin back in third.

Alive Alive Oh (11/8 to 2/1), who was switched to the inner in the straight to try and deliver a challenge, couldn't land a blow in fourth.

The 8/1 winner, carrying the colours of Barry Connell, came into the race fit from a jumping campaign and had landed a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Navan on his last appearance. He had finished second in this race last year to Parish Hall.

“He was fit from hurdling although the worry was that the trip might be a bit sharp today and you'd expect him to be a bit better upped in distance,” said Hogan.

“It was a last minute decision to come here and the plan was to go for a 2m6f handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse.

“That may come a bit quick now although he'll get an entry. He could go to Punchestown for a three-mile handicap hurdle there.”
