The Evens favourite Miss Tempo had to work hard for victory in the Kilmeaden Mares Maiden Hurdle, looking second best going to two out, but a quick jump at the last carried her past market rival Robyndeglory (5/2) and she stayed on to score by a head.

It was a third winner of the evening for Rachael Blackmore after winning the two chases on the card on Downthecellar and Centurion Steel

The daughter of Milan had won a point-to-point last year and was second on her hurdling bow at Kilbeggan last month.

It was a double for local winning trainer Henry de Bromhead, after Centurion Steel, and he remarked: "She is tough and just stays really well. The second quickened away but in fairness to her she put her head down and really battled back.

"She is owned by a syndicate of mainly Waterford lads headed up by Sean Quinlan. I'm delighted for them as it's their first horse with us. The only disappointment is that they are not here.

"You'd hope she will get further in time. I'm delighted with her, she is a lovely mare and came well recommended. I'd say she will keep going for the summer, we will see. She goes on the softer ground as well so we will see what everyone wants to do and decide from there."
